To address and mitigate climate change, emissions must fall from 50 billion tonnes to zero. Every year, forever.

Offsets are necessary to achieve this, at least in the near term. Period.

In 2022, all the carbon offset projects on Earth generated a record 0.3 billion tonnes of supply. However, even in the most conservative scenario, forecast demand for offsets outstrips forecast supply.

Up to 710Mt of new removal credits – like those generated by Treebridge Conservation – are required to meet total removal demand up to 2030 – equivalent to 18x supply in 2022.

Total potential supply from existing removal projects can, at most, provide just 5-11% of the removal credits required (excluding new demand, or demand switching from reductions to removals).

Treebridge Conservation will help to meet the growing corporate demand for carbon offsets. The volume of carbon credits issued to the project is expected to grow over time as restoration work scales up. Carbon credit prices are forecast to rise as net zero commitments translate into increased demand for carbon offsets.

Treebridge Conservation delivers climate impact in two ways:

  1. Restoring degraded mangroves, removing CO2 from the atmosphere as the forest regrows (known as emissions ‘removal’)

  2. Conserving and protecting intact mangroves, preventing CO2 emissions from deforestation (known as emissions ‘avoidance’)

In addition to our flagship Belize project, Treebridge Conservation has signed on the be a part of the Government of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees initiative, with plans to plant more than 500,000 trees over the next five years. While offsets in northern latitudes are less economically valuable than those in tropical climates (due mainly to less carbon uptake in the winter and higher risk of forest fires in the summer), it is still extremely beneficial to generate carbon removals through tree planting.

TreeBridge Conservation is led by an experienced management team with over 30 years of combined experience in sustainable development, environmental sciences, project development, corporate finance, and executive leadership.
